M.2 Key ID and LyCOM Various M.2 Product

The M.2 NGFF form factor is 75 Pins rectangular PCBA with an edge connector used for Mobile Add-In cards. Different M.2 module uses the different M.2 Key ID connector and has the different notched pin and signal interface, like below

1. M Key M.2 (Notched Pin 59-66) use on NVMe SSD

2. B Key M.2 (Notched Pin 12-19) use on SATA SSD or 3G/4G WWAN card

3. E Key M.2 (Notched Pin 22-31) use on WiFi card

For example, most mainboard only implement M.2 M Key socket, but due to the Key insertion prevention, user can’t install advanced popular E Key WiFi module into mainboard incompatible M Key host socket directly.

Recently more and more advanced and fast M.2 modules or SSD available in the market, so user actually need the vast type of M.2 converter board to enjoy M.2 new technologies on their PCIe mainboard, or mini-PCIe mainboard, or even different Key M.2 mainboard.
